LEAGUE NEWS

SERRL are Proud to Announce that we now have a fully automatic electronic timing system for our races.  The system uses transponders zip tied to the forks to accurately measure to a thousandth of a second.  We now have the luxury of being able to place all finishers regardless of line judge helpers and the speed of the bunch!  So we can now explore the possibility of running sprint primes, king of the mountain points and even have finishes on the flat sections of the courses.   This system will give you more variety and more accurate and speedy results.

The Equipment is very expensive, we have a grant to cover the initial cost but we ask all riders to be careful with the transponders.  Each one costs around 70 euro.  Zip ties and cable cutters will be provided when you sign on and collect a race number as usual.  Please make sure you remember to return your transponder with your number after each race.

in 2008 SERRL points will only be used to  calculate the overall winners of the league.  Points will not be converted into prize money, instead race prizes will be given on the day of the race and at the end of the year the league top 3 will receive a commemorative medal and the winner a trophy to keep for the year.  Only League Affiliated Riders will be eligible for points and points will not be back-paid from earlier races if riders affiliate midway through the season. Cost of affiliation  is £10 for individuals, riders are eligible for points even if their club is non affiliated.  (as voted at 2007 A.G.M)

serrl agm 2007 minutes

the bull wrotham.  11th november 2007.  meeting commenced 16:20

no matters outstanding from 2006 meeting. minutes from 2006 meeting agreed.

chair report: most races had 40+ riders but those with less lost money.  a couple of incidents, and the league is striving for greater safety using motorcycle marshals, but at additional costs.  grant to be sought allowing finish/timing equipment purchase.  thanks to motorcycle marshals, all race helpers and sponsors.  the elite open and stage races are to be repeated in 2008 due to support and success of 2007 races.  30 races are planed for 2008 season, including a 4 stage race.  neutral service assistance is needed.

administrators report:  new longer stage race for 2008 plus open elite race.  some of the motorcycle marshals are to qualify as commissaires.  plan to have motorcycle marshals at every race.  thanks to all helpers and marshals.

accountants report:  income/expenditure per race explained and typical costs incurred at each race. error on spreadsheet will be reconcilled, balance sheet is correct.  £4000 grant received due to loss of eastway circuit, as a concequence there was a £2500 surplus, otherwise a loss would have occurred! any race with less than 40 riders runs at a loss!  early season races show a surplus, but several in mid and late season run at a loss.  typical expenses per race are circa £350. unless financial issues are addressed, 2008 could see a considerable loss at the end of the year!  without the £4000 grant the league would have a £zero balance after reserves!
