SCIENTIFIC SERVICES TO CYCLING

Chris Macnamara (Wildside RT) wins Toachim House Grand Prix and takes the £1000 top prize.

50 riders braved the rain and wind to complete 5 challenging laps of the Chilham Circuit and the 3 climbs of White Hill.  6 riders broke clear on lap 2 of the Chilham circuit and stayed together until the first climb up white hill where Macnamara broke away.  At the finish line he won by a comfortable 1:45, Martin Smith (AW Cycles) took second place in a 3 up sprint with Darren Barclay (Arctic RT) edging out Andy Lyons (Heron Cyclesport) for the final podium spot.

SERRL are Proud to Announce that we now have a fully automatic electronic timing system for our races.  The system uses transponders zip tied to the forks to accurately measure to a thousandth of a second.  We now have the luxury of being able to place all finishers regardless of line judge helpers and the speed of the bunch!  So we can now explore the possibility of running sprint primes, king of the mountain points and even have finishes on the flat sections of the courses.   This system will give you more variety and more accurate and speedy results.

Transponders

The Equipment is very expensive, we have a grant to cover the initial cost but we ask all riders to be careful with the transponders.  Each one costs around 70 euro.  Zip ties and cable cutters will be provided when you sign on and collect a race number as usual.  Please make sure you remember to return your transponder with your number after each race. If you pack before the end of the race please take your transponder to the finish-line official before you go home.
